Bridging Generations-Age Friendly Pakenham is a volunteer run, community-based organization that is connecting older citizens of Pakenham to inter-generational, and community action activities that will help build strong connections and a resilient “age-friendly” community. Bridging Generations’ volunteers work collaboratively to identify issues and find solutions that impact the community of Pakenham Hamlet and Ward.
The World Health Organization (WHO) describes age-friendly communities as being places in which older people, communities, policies, services, settings and structures work together in partnership to support and enable us all to age well.
“People need to know they have options that will allow them to stay in their community for as long as they desire. This project is not only a way to identify and share what’s currently available but also an opportunity to determine what products and services may be missing so we can begin looking at potential solutions” ~ Jennifer LaRocque
“The Bridging Generations Project is very important to us. We participated in the Community Health Services table and found out about many services we were not aware of”
~Bev & Clarence Fishenden
